Learning and Education
(TS) Have you ever thought about how important getting an education is? (C) Education is the foundation of your entire life. (C) If you are not educated, you will not have as many opportunities in life. (CS) Weather you like it or not, you need an education to be successful in life.
(TS) In To Kill a Mockingbird, Atticus, being wise, explains his thoughts on Scout going to school. (SD) Atticus wants Scout to go to school. (C) He tells Scout that she must continue going to school if they continue reading together, this really persuades Scout to stay in school because she loves to read. (C) Also, I believe that he wanted her to stay in school so bad because he wanted her to learn the most she can. (SD) In addition to Scout having to keep going to school if her and Atticus read, Atticus says that she must not tell her teacher that they still read together. (C) The teacher may get angered at Atticus for still doing this after Scout was told she can not read. (C) If the teacher discovers that they are still reading, she may not give Scout as much attention in class, or any attention at all! (SD) The last reason I believe Atticus wants Scout to go to school so bad is that Atticus never went to school. (C) As I stated earlier, even though he is very knowledgeable, and he is doing fine, he wants her to get the best education she could get. (C) He also could have realized that going to school would have altered his live in a very positive manor. (CS) Although Atticus is very wise, he still wants Scout to go to school, no matter what.
(TS) Although I am not very fond of having to wake up early to go to classes all day, my feelings for education are very strong. (SD) I believe that if anybody gets a chance to have an education, they should take it. (C) Getting an education opens up so many opportunities in life. (C) Also, people who get a chance to get an education and do not take it, often regret not taking the great opportunity. (SD) If you try hard enough in school, you can be whatever you want to be! (C) Perhaps this is just me, being so pro-education, but who would want to have to work at a gas station, or at a supermarket? (C) Having enough perseverance in school can get almost anywhere you want to go. (SD) Even if you do not want to become something that involves a lot of science, or a lot of math, it is still essential to life. (C) For example, tipping involves math. (C) Also, being something like a policeman involves science, to investigate a crime scene. (CS) As you can see, getting an education is essential to most things in life.
(TS) As you can see, education is one of the most important, if not the most important thing you can get. (C) Atticus did not go to school, even though he is doing fine, his life could have been a lot better if he had gone to school. (C) Also, getting a good job involves getting a good education. (CS) All of these reasons show how important education is, and how it is essential to have.

Ryan, I was not able to find the appositive and participle in your paragraphs. Could you highlight those somehow, or identify them in parentheses?
ReplyDeleteAlso, this phrase -- "and he is doing fine" -- is a little vague. A reader might wonder exactly what you mean. Try to be clearer and more specific here.

ReplyDeleteRyan-
ReplyDeleteI could not agree more with your views on education. However, in your very first sentence of the first paragraph, you say "Atticus, being wise". This sentence seems like something that was not thought over well. I also think that you accidentally put a comma instead of a period right before "this" in the first paragraph.
