(TS) How could a stick possibly relate to the book To Kill a Mockingbird? After putting some thought into it, I realized something: how could this stick not have a significant relationship to the book. (SD) Something that really got me to think of how the stick could be related to To Kill a Mockingbird was that the stick was Y-shaped; this shows that there were places in the book where a character had two choices they could have made. (C) Jem decided to go back to get his pants at the Radleys’ house at night, so Atticus would not see that they were gone. (C) On the opposing side of this, Jem could have stayed home, which represents the choice that was not made. (SD) Another reason why the stick has such a significant relationship with the book is that the stick must have fallen from a tree, making it isolated from all of the other sticks on the tree. (C) This represents how the author really describes every character differently from every other character. (C) In addition, the author shows how some characters act differently around each other, for example: Jem acts differently around Dill than he does around Scout. (SD) My final reason for how the stick is significant to To Kill a Mockingbird is that sticks are very ordinary, but every stick is different. (C) This ties in with Scout and Jem living in an ordinary town, but seems to be something very strange going on in their town. (C) The fact that they started getting objects in the knothole, and then the knothole being closed up with cement because the tree is claimed to be dead is very suspicious to me. (CS) In this book, there are times when there are decisions to be made, there is something different about every character, and there are strange things going on in the town. (Anaphora)

(TS) Since the stick can relate to a book, think about how much it can relate to your life! (SD) Sticks are fragile, as well as people. (C) A person may become very sad or depressed and they may considered broken. (C) Even if a person just had a bad day, their spirit can be destroyed. (SD) Something else that can describe how much a stick relates to your life, is that it is part of something much bigger; a tree. (C) We can all be compaired to a branch on a tree, we all come off of the trunk of the tree, and we also have other branches coming off of us. (C) These branches represent how we are all part of a community. (C) This could also could represent a family that you have. (SD) Lastly, the Y-shaped stick represents how you have to make decisions in life. (C) The quote, "I took the road less traveled by, and that has made all the difference." (Robert Frost) relates to this; because there are many branches to a tree, there may have been one broken end of this branch. (C) Even though it might not seem it, the Y-shape of the stick represents how you can make different choices. (CS) Sticks and people are both fragile, are both part of something bigger, and can both have different paths to follow. (Anaphora)

  1. Ryan, in this sentence -- "act differently around each other, for example..." you need a semicolon after "other" -- or a period.

    I like the last anaphora!

  2. ryan,

I saw most of your sentences fitting under the umbrella of the paragraphs. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK. i saw quite a few word that could be removed to add more flow and simplicity to the sentences. especially in the first paragraph, i saw some sentences that didnt sound right. try to make them flow as smoothly as possible.
